Manichaeism
The "Apostle of Light" and founder of a religion (3rd century CE) that sought to replace previous "partial revelations" including that of Jesus. Mani taught that at death the soul of the righteous person would be liberated from the world of flesh and suffering to enter Paradise. Those addicted to the things of this world -- fornication, procreation, conspicuous consumption of all kinds, obsessive work, eating meat, drinking alcohol, and presumably too much Internet -- are reborn in a new body.
