The "terrible one" sprang from the space between Shiva's eyes and took up terrorizing humanity and enemies of the cosmic order. Large canines protrude from his mouth. Snakes cover his body. He has four to six arms. A bowl of blood and a skull necklace complete his fierce appearance. He keeps watch over the Universe, ensuring that the great cycles of Time, including Death, proceed unhindered.
