Wheel
A chariot wheel with six or twelve spokes represents the Wheel of Life or the Wheel of the Law (Dharmachakra), an emblem of the Buddhist faith. Williams writes that it "exemplifies the crushing effect of Buddha's preaching on all delusions and superstitions, just as a wheel crushes anything it passes over." No power of the universe can stall or reverse its rightward turning. Our lives, says the Buddhist, might be compared to the brief instant when part of a wheel touches the ground. The U.S. Veterans Administration uses the Wheel of the Law to mark the graves of Buddhists.
