The deceased sometimes like to leave representations of their lifetime work. I have seen all kinds of emblems of this sort, ranging from the official seals of government agencies that the deceased worked for to the tools that the deceased used in life. Cowboys, miners, firemen, policement, housewives, CIA agents, and baseball players are just a few of the professionals who have seen fit to inscribe some stylized figure or emblem on their stones. These say nothing more or less than "This is what I did during life. My work is what I was."
