Charles Dickens
(died 1870)

On the ground.

Dickens, who was working on his book The Mystery of Edwin Drood, suddenly rose, seized his temples, and collapsed onto the floor. The meaning of his last words, uttered to his sister-in-law and probable mistress, Georgina Hogarth, remain as unknowable as the end he had designed for Drood.
