Barker, the son of "Ma" Barker, was killed during an escape attempt from Alcatraz. He was hiding with fellow convict Dale Stamphill on a rocky beach which now bears his name, when he peeked over a boulder and received a bullet in the eye. He then lapsed into a delerious state.
