The ghost of a low-caste woman who has died in childbirth or during menstruation. The churel takes the form of a beautiful woman who entices and entraps handsome young men who she keeps until they are old. The wary young man will flee at the sight of any pretty lady with no mouth and backwards-pointing feet. Burying the corpse of a potential churel face down prevents the ghost from escaping the body. If this fails, her habitat may be exorcised.
