Heaven's Chancellor (who some say is a lesser form of Yahweh or, perhaps, God the Father himself) takes his daily orders for the harvest of souls straight from the Throne. He passes these instructions on to Gabriel and Sammael for execution. The tallest angel (except for his brother Sandalphon) relayed the orders to announce Man's destruction by the Flood to inferiors. He also played a role in ending human sacrifice by staying Abraham's hand when the latter was about to give over his son Isaac. Metaron also takes on the task of instructing the souls of children who died prematurely. In the recent satire Dogma, he was called "Lumetatron".
