Geryon
Christian
Geryon was a monstrous, three-headed and three-bodied king of Iberia who died when Herakles came to steal his red cattle. He was said, in other traditions, to lure strangers into his lands, where he robbed and killed them. Dante transformed and transmogrified Geryon into the personification of Fraud, who doubles as a mount taken by the souls of the Damned between the Seventh and Eighth Circles of the Inferno. He has the gaudy body of a dragon, hairy arms like an ape, a scorpion's tail, and a honest face.
