"The Divine Horse" is a goddess who rides a mare. SHe looks after souls as they make their way to the Otherworld following their deaths. Epona gained the favor of Roman cavalry units stationed in Gaul. These brought her worship back to the Roma itself, where she became the only Celtic deity with a temple in that city.
