Emma-ho and his sister pass judgement on those sinners who arrive in Jigoku or Hell. It is his particular task to try the male sinners, who must watch their transgressions played back on a gigantic mirror, a celestial video recording system. Emma-ho and his council of demons then sentence the evil-doer to an eternity of either fire or ice in one of the sixteen divisions of Jigoku.
