The underworld and land of the dead ruled by the Holy Emperor Sheng-Ti. Though said to be dismal, the Yellow Springs resemble our world. There may be some punishment of the wicked here. Miners digging deep in the earth feared that they might break through to the Yellow Springs, hastening their spiritual and bodily departure from the surface world.
